New data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services showing that Obamacare is working and will cost consumers less than anticipated. The report highlights the 36 states where the federal government is in charge of the Health Insurance Marketplace. During the 2013 Legislative Session, Minnesota lawmakers created a state-run exchange, MNsure, where businesses and individuals can find an apples-to-apples comparison of coverage options. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services studies play out what Minnesotans knew would happen – a Minnesota exchange will cost less than participation in the federal exchange for all parties involved. “Insurance companies will pay less in the premium withholds, and consumers will receive coverage delivered at a lower cost,” Martin said. According to MNsure, Minnesota will offer average monthly premiums for as little as $144 a month. “Consumers can pick the plan that works best for them and their family,” Martin said. “The health care plans give access to quality affordable coverage with no lifetime caps on care, end discrimination due to preexisting conditions and bar insurers from charging women more and so much more.” Source…
