MOORHEAD – Minnesota’s governor will be in town next week to talk with local leaders about the contentious $1.8 billion flood diversion project. Gov. Mark Dayton has urged the federal government to stop its work on the diversion until the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources completes an environmental review of the 36-mile channel that would divert major floodwaters around Fargo-Moorhead. As part of the diversion, the Diversion Authority has started construction of a ring dike around three communities upstream of Fargo – Oxbow, Hickson and Bakke. Dayton will hold a public forum at 9 a.m. Wednesday in City Council chambers at Moorhead City Hall. He also will hold a forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilkin County Courthouse in Breckenridge.
