It’s plain for all to see that these are perilous times. The current administration is threatening free speech and a free press, intimidating civic institutions, and dismantling government agencies that Americans depend on for their own health and well-being and the health of our planet.

But we are fighting back. We’ve been out in the streets protesting, calling and writing to our representatives, visiting their offices, showing up at empty-chair rallies and working family picnics, and getting out into the community. But with Congress and the Supreme Court complicit, there’s only one way to finally put the guardrails back. We need to win elections.

Next year’s elections are crucial. Here’s what’s at stake:

·      Control of Congress. If Democrats have any chance of regaining a majority in the Senate, it’s essential that we hold onto the seat currently held by Tina Smith, who is retiring. And we need to do our part to flip control of the House and put an end to Michelle Fischbach’s toadying to the administration.

·      Safeguarding Minnesota. The DFL has dominated state-wide offices for years, and that has ensured our free and fair elections and the rule of law. We need to preserve that control to fend off the authoritarian assaults of the administration.

·      A progressive legislature. Under our current divided legislature, our DFL representatives succeeded in defending the progress made during the 2023 trifecta, preserving such gains as universal school lunches, paid family and medical leave, and tuition-free college for low- and middle-income families. Restoring a DFL majority would enable continued progress toward making Minnesota the best state in the country for children and families. It’s essential that we re-elect Rob Kupec and Heather Keeler.

Rather than promoting tax cuts for the rich, fomenting culture wars, and spreading falsehoods about our elections, we need representatives who put the needs of our people and our communities first. To win next year, we need to tell our story. That will require both time and money. Volunteers will be needed to help turn out the vote, and we hope you’ll join the effort.

We also need the resources to support our candidates and sustain our operations. With your help we can rent office space, rent billboards, and help pay for yard signs and mailers.
