Democrats Care Campus Food Drive Is Back!

Last year our Democrats Care drive to collect shelf-stable food and personal care items for our local college campuses was a big success, and the colleges are eager for our help again this year. We got a lot of food items last year, and this year we’re hoping to also collect more hygiene products, as those are harder for the campuses to procure. Donations will be distributed to food shelves on the campuses of MSU Moorhead, MState, and Concordia during the week of March 20. Please help by purchasing three (one for each campus) of any of the following items next time you go to the grocery store:

· Bar soap, body wash, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner,

· Toothpaste and toothbrushes,

· Laundry soap,

· Tampons/pads,

· Diapers,

· Granola bars & breakfast bars,

· Cereal & oatmeal,

· Milk or unsweetened almond milk in shelf-stable boxes,

· Peanut butter,

· Crackers,

· Deluxe macaroni-and-cheese, or ramen noodles

· Canned food, preferably with pop-tab openers that don’t require a can opener (beans, meats, fruits and vegetables are all good options),

· Tuna or chicken packets,

· Rice and rice dishes,

· Items from the “international/ethnic foods” aisles, · Cooking oil, · Tea or instant coffee, · Gatorade and other healthy beverages, · Sugar and salt & pepper sets. Please note: all donated items must be unopened, with their original packaging and labeling. Food items needing refrigeration will NOT be sought during this drive. Campus food pantries also welcome monetary gifts to help students deal with emergencies. If you prefer to give that way, please make your check out to the college of your choice. Thankfully, we are still able to use our old office at 1424 1st Ave. N. (next door to Junkyard Brewing) as the drop-off site. Drop-off times are: · Saturday, March 11, from 2 to 4 · Sunday, March 12, from 2 to 4 · Tuesday, March 14, from 5 to 7 · Saturday, March 18, from 2 to 4 · Sunday, March 19, from 2 to 4 If none of those times work for you, contact Larry Wohlrabe either at bpwohl@gmail.com or by calling 218-329-6665.
